Follow-Me-Around Saturday (6 days to fall)

I woke up around 8.

I surprised TF with some early morning Nutella toast. Nutella toast is one of life's simple pleasures.

Then, I practiced guitar for a bit.

Funky Friday

Here's a picture that I drew. It's from a fairly recent photograph of Dakota Fanning. Drawing is something I really like to do, but I've taken a break from it for a while now. Maybe just a lack of inspiration. But I think I'm back to my old ways, so prepare yourself for lots and lots of art.

What I'm looking at right now: a pumpkin that I just got yesterday (first one of the season!)

Outfit of Today and Yesterday (leopard print, lion friend, and airplanes that don't take you anywhere)

I thought it was about time to start wearing red lipstick again.

Countdown to Autumn: 10 Days (scented soap, dyed hair, and adding cinnamon to everyday objects)

Guys. There are 10 days until fall.

I thought it was about time to break out the old autumn issues of my favorite festive magazines (I taped some of the best fall-themed magazine clippings in a letter to LA. If she hasn't gotten it yet, I may have just given away the surprise, but it's okay because it's for the good of the blog). I have found some great pumpkin and squash-filled recipes and Thanksgiving decoration ideas (because obviously, it's important to begin Thanksgiving preparation in September).

There was a sale on the fall scented soaps at Bath and Body Works, so now my whole family has pumpkin-scented hands (and couldn't be happier about it).

The Cat's Out of the Bag

Meet my best friend, Josephine.

She's just like your best friend, maybe.

She's not afraid to speak her mind.

Market Wednesday

It's a little market on a square block.

In the center is a café called the Lunchbox.

I think the whole square is a lunchbox on Wednesdays.

A Comparison Using Like or As

raining in the nighttime is like
laughing at a funeral is like
reading a microwave oven manual before bed is like
crying in your sleep
synthesized drum kits are like
nail polish bottles with beating hearts are like
cap’n crunch for dinner is like
library books you keep
raining in the nighttime is like
leaving the house with the door unlocked is like
writing down a poem that doesn’t rhyme so nicely is like
(you) and (me)

***

Hope you like the poem! In other news, 15 days until autumn! Who's excited? TF and I drank pumpkin spice lattés on the first day they started being sold again at Starbucks. I hung one of my cinnamon-scented pinecones from my rearview mirror. It's fantastic. So. That's what I've been up to.

Also, I got an olive green jacket. In the spirit of things.

I hope you're having a lovely almost-autumn. Did I already wish that for you in a previous post? Probably.

Countdown to Autumn: 21 Days (pumpkin cookies, chai tea, and scented pinecones)

As you probably know if you're one of our loyal (five) subscribers, I just love autumn. Everything about it makes me gleeful.

I thought that in order to get you all in the spirit, a countdown was in order.

I am now proceeding to fill my days with festive recipes, decorations, smells, flavors, and feelings.

I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies the other day using this Food Network recipe. (Except I used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate, and I didn't have any ground ginger, so I chopped up some ginger babies that we just happened to have [above].)
